Senior Power BI Developer (Remote) Location: Los Angeles, California (Remote with 15% travel to client locations) Company: Samay Consulting Industry: Medical Devices Employment Type: Contract Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer to join our team at a leading medical devices company based in Los Angeles, California. This is a remote role with 15% travel required to client locations. The ideal candidate will wear multiple hats, combining expertise in Power BI development, project management, and business analysis to deliver actionable insights and drive business success. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement advanced data visualization solutions that support strategic decision-making in the medical devices industry. Key Responsibilities • Power BI Development: • Design, develop, and maintain complex Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models to provide actionable insights for stakeholders. • Optimize data models using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for performance and scalability. • Integrate Power BI with various data sources, including SQL databases, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), and other enterprise systems. • Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with industry standards, including HIPAA regulations. • Project Management: • Lead end-to-end Power BI project lifecycles, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance. • Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables. • Manage project risks, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery within budget and schedule. • Facilitate regular status meetings and provide updates to leadership and clients. • Business Analysis: • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements. • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for operational and strategic improvements. • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to ensure alignment on project goals and outcomes. • Provide recommendations to optimize business processes based on data-driven insights. • Stakeholder Engagement: • Work closely with clinical, operational, and executive teams to deliver solutions that align with the company’s goals in the medical devices sector. • Present insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI tools and dashboards. Qualifications • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. • Experience: • 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, including advanced DAX, data modeling, and report design. • 3+ years of project management experience, preferably with Agile or Scrum methodologies. • 3+ years of business analysis experience, including requirements gathering and stakeholder management. • Experience in the medical devices or healthcare industry is highly preferred. • Technical Skills: • Expertise in Power BI (Desktop, Service, and Embedded) and DAX. • Proficiency in SQL, data warehousing, and ETL processes. • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS for data integration. • Knowledge of data governance, security practices, and HIPAA compliance. • Soft Skills: • Strong communication and presentation skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines. • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach. • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 15% to client locations as needed.
