Role description
About the Opportunity:
We are looking to hire a Senior Power BI Developer / Data Analyst. This team handles highly sensitive, high-visibility data related to medical residencies and fellowships.
We are not just looking for a dashboard designer. We need a true "Full-Stack" Data Professionalβa fixer who can act as a heavy-hitting backend analyst (Oracle/Postgres) while simultaneously optimizing complex semantic models to rescue slow, bloated Power BI reports.
The Challenge:
The team is currently dealing with critical executive dashboards that take several minutes to render. We need an expert who knows how to look under the hood using Performance Analyzer and DAX Studio, optimize the semantic layer, push transformations back to the database, and get load times down to seconds.
What You Will Do:
β’ Performance Optimization: Audit, troubleshoot, and rebuild existing Power BI dashboards to drastically reduce rendering times and improve user experience.
β’ Backend Data Analysis (40% of the role): Act as the backup data analyst for the team, spending a significant portion of your week writing, reading, and natively optimizing raw SQL queries.
β’ Semantic Modeling: Build highly efficient, lightweight Star Schemas from scratch out of massive Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
β’ Data Governance: Implement strict Dynamic Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure highly sensitive medical data is locked down and only viewed by permitted users.
β’ Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a consultative "go-getter." Don't just take ordersβwork directly with Directors and Relationship Managers to understand the why behind their requests and guide them toward the best data solutions.
What You Must Have:
β’ 7+ years of hands-on experience in Business Intelligence and Data Engineering/Analysis.
β’ Deep Oracle & PostgreSQL Expertise: You must be completely comfortable natively querying and tuning execution plans in Oracle and Postgres. (If your background is 100% Microsoft SQL Server/Azure, this role will not be a fit).
β’ Advanced Power BI Architecture: Proven track record of fixing slow dashboards, utilizing calculation groups, iterator functions, and building clean 1-to-many dimensional models.
β’ Timezone Commitment: You must be online and available strictly from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
IMPORTANT: The Interview Process & "No-AI" Policy
This client requires candidates who can natively code from memory. The interview process includes a live, on-screen technical review where you will be required to verbally read, write, and debug raw SQL and DAX. The use of ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or any other Generative AI tools is strictly prohibited during the interview and in your day-to-day coding for this role. If you rely on AI to write your complex DAX or SQL, you will not pass the technical screen.
To Apply:
Please submit your resume highlighting specific metrics where you optimized dashboard load times and your native Oracle database experience.
