Role description
The Senior Data & AI Engineer will be a technically strong, hands-on expert responsible for the design, development, and management of our enterprise data and AI infrastructure. This high-impact role requires deep expertise in modern data warehousing, cloud services, contemporary AI technologies, and a solid understanding of the banking/financial services domain to ensure robust, compliant, and efficient data operations.
The ideal candidate will also play a key role in driving the adoption of AI solutions and managing our reporting tools, providing essential support and insights to business users. This position is part of a very lean software engineering team, requiring a versatile individual who can operate across multiple technological and logistical facets of our data and AI platform. The ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset and be able to operate independently with minimal oversight.
RESPONSIBILITIES: List and describe this positionβs principal responsibilities in concise, comprehensive statements.
β’ Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable data pipelines and data warehouse solutions using Snowflake and AWS technologies. Design and implement efficient database models, schemas and structures.
β’ Platform Administration: Administer and manage the Snowflake environment, including performance tuning, cost optimization, user access control, user onboarding/offboarding, and workload management to ensure optimal performance and security.
β’ AI Solution Development: Design, build and implement modern AI solutions (both in-house and third-party), integrated with Snowflake Cortex, Amazon Bedrock and other AI/ML models.
β’ Reporting Tools Management: Manage and support reporting and business intelligence (BI) tools and platforms. Configure custom reports.
β’ User Support and Training: Provide expert support to end-users on reporting tools, data accessibility, and data best practices, empowering them to extract insights and make data-driven decisions.
β’ Data Governance & Compliance: Implement data governance, security protocols, encryption techniques, and access control policies in compliance with banking industry regulations.
β’ Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including security, IT, and business stakeholders, to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless data operations.
β’ Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in data management processes, documentation, and data quality metrics, ensuring high data integrity and reliability
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Indicate the educational level, previous experience, specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet the minimum entry-level requirements for this position. This may include special skills, licenses, certificates, etc.
β’ Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and software development
β’ Proven experience working in the banking or financial services industry.
β’ 6+ years hands-on experience and advanced-level expertise in Snowflake data warehousing and data platform management.
β’ 4+ years hands-on experience and advanced-level expertise in AWS cloud services and data-related technologies.
β’ Proficiency in reporting and BI tools such as Sigma or Omni.
β’ Experience with programming languages like Python and SQL.
β’ Experience designing and implementing AI/ML solutions, using AI services like Snowflake Cortex, AWS Bedrock and other modern GenAI models is highly preferred
β’ Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
β’ Ability to work independently and lead complex data projects
β’ Highly preferred but not mandatory: working knowledge of core banking systems like Jack Henry and Loan Origination Systems like eNcino
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS
β’ Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
β’ Some travel is required.
β’ Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
β’ Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment.
