Senior SQL Database Administrator

SQL Database Administrator – Consultant 📍 Columbia, SC (Onsite – 5 Days/Week) 📅 12-Month Contract | Extension Possible 🕒 Weekend Hours & On-Call Rotation Expected A State Government environment is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to support mission-critical systems. This is a primarily onsite role; candidates must be local to South Carolina or North Carolina (commuting daily to Columbia, SC). Remote flexibility is minimal and subject to project needs and agency discretion. Key Responsibilities SQL Server Administration • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server 2019 & 2022 environments • Setup and manage replication, mirroring, backup, and recovery processes • Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues (including after-hours/weekends) • Configure maintenance automation and database standards • Migrate databases to SQL Server 2022 • Support SSIS packages and develop reports using SSRS • Develop and maintain data warehouses and cubes via SSAS • Implement and support third-party vendor databases Business Intelligence & Data Modeling • Design and manage dashboards and BI reports • Develop logical and physical data models using Erwin Data Modeler • Support scalability, integrity, and performance requirements • Collaborate with architects, developers, and analysts • Model data within Oracle and MS SQL environments Required Experience • 5+ years SQL Server 2019/2022 • 5+ years SSRS • 5+ years SSAS • 5+ years SQL Reports Designer • 5+ years BI tools and dashboard design • 5+ years as SQL Database Administrator • 2+ years supporting State Government agencies Preferred Experience • DD Boost for backup and restore operations • Oracle 19 database operations • Oracle Grid Control • Erwin Data Modeler Education • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field This role requires strong technical depth, reliability for production support, and experience operating within government-regulated environments.
