Role description
Senior Systems Lead (Fractional / Hourly) Hustle 2.0 | Remote (U.S. Preferred) | Contract The Mission At Hustle 2.0, we’re on a mission to transform lives for people who are justice involved. This is not your typical tech job. It’s work that changes the lives of people who are incarcerated. It’s an opportunity to interrupt generational cycles of incarceration, poverty, and violence. Because of your technical efforts, many Hustle 2.0 graduates will be the first in their families to go to college, and the last in their families to go to prison. You’ll be fulfilling a very important mission; people who are often voiceless and forgotten will count on you to ensure the systems that support their education and reentry are flawless. More than 20,000 incarcerated people across 800+ prisons and jails in 47 states have been equipped by Hustle 2.0. Our vision is for all incarcerated people in the U.S. to have access to our programβ€”and for that to happen, we need "institutional grade" technology infrastructure. Learn more about us at: www.hustle20.com The Role We are looking for a Fixerβ€”a Senior Engineer who enjoys owning complex systems and ensuring data integrity between disparate platforms. This is a high-output role for someone who can move fast, follow structure, and produce results without micromanagement. The Tech Stack β€’ Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL) β€” Our source of truth. β€’ Interface: Bubble.io β€” Our student and staff frontend. β€’ Infrastructure: GCP / AWS / Google Drive API β€” Automated reporting & certificate generation. Engagement Model: Diagnostic Project First We believe in proving fit through results. This engagement begins with a Fixed-Fee Diagnostic Project ($1,000): 1. Audit: Map the data flow between Bubble and Supabase. 1. Identify: Find the root causes of current automation and sync failures. 1. Roadmap: Provide a prioritized list of high-leverage fixes. Post-audit, we will move to a flexible hourly arrangement. We expect a higher volume of hours during an initial "Stabilization Phase," tapering down to minimal maintenance hours once the system is reliable. What You’ll Own β€’ Reliability Engineering: Harden Google Drive API integrations to ensure 100% success for automated certificates and facility rosters. β€’ Data Integrity: Optimize PostgreSQL schemas and Edge Functions to eliminate "ghost" data or duplicate records. β€’ Systems Architecture: Ensure the "handshake" between our No-Code frontend and Pro-Code backend is fail-safe. Required Experience β€’ 7+ Years in Software Engineering: You must be able to diagnose and repair systems you didn't build. β€’ Postgres/Supabase Mastery: High proficiency in SQL logic, triggers, and Edge Functions is non-negotiable. β€’ The "Hybrid" Mindset: You understand how to bridge the gap between No-Code speed (Bubble) and Pro-Code reliability. Compensation β€’ Diagnostic Project: $1,000 flat fee (estimated 10–15 hours). β€’ Ongoing Hourly: $80 – $150 / hour (based on experience). β€’ Commitment: Flexible hourly with agreed-upon weekly caps.
