Tableau Administrator (Contract) Location: Remote (PST preferred) Duration: 12+ months with possible extension About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Tableau Administrator to support and enhance our enterprise Tableau environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong scripting and automation skills who can independently manage and optimize Tableau environments, troubleshoot complex user issues, and ensure system reliability and scalability. Responsibilities Manage Tableau environments, including site creation, project setup, and user access management. Troubleshoot user issues, monitor scheduled jobs, and address data refresh failures. Apply application-level patches and upgrades as needed. Manage a suite of Tableau products — Tableau Server, Desktop, Online, Prep, and Data Management. Monitor and tune Tableau Server for performance, including clustering, load balancing, and optimization. Collaborate with IT Security, Network, and Infrastructure teams to maintain environment stability and compliance. Research, test, and validate new product features and Tableau releases. Script and automate Tableau administration tasks using Python, Shell, Node.js, or AngularJS. Perform system auditing, report creation, and license usage monitoring. Integrate Tableau with external applications (e.g., TabPy, Tableau API) for embedded analytics and automation. Maintain comprehensive documentation, best practices, and configuration inventories. Participate in weekly vendor meetings and track ticket resolutions and bug reporting. Qualifications 5–8 years of professional experience, with 3+ years in Tableau Administration. Proven expertise with Tableau Server configuration, maintenance, and tuning. Hands-on experience with Tableau Online, Tableau Desktop, and Tableau Prep. Scripting experience in Python, Shell, or JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, AngularJS). Experience integrating Tableau with APIs and automation frameworks. Strong understanding of server performance monitoring, load balancing, and clustering. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with cross-functional technical teams. Experience supporting a large-scale enterprise Tableau environment preferred.
