Role description
Job Description: • Install, configure, and administer Siemens Polarion ALM environments (on-premise and/or cloud-hosted Polarion X). • Manage project and global configurations: work item types, workflows, link roles, document templates, user roles, and access permissions. • Maintain and customize Polarion using Velocity scripting, JavaScript, Python, and Polarion REST and SOAP APIs. • Handle server-side administration including SVN and GIT repository management, clustering configuration, index rebuilding, and scheduled backup procedures. • Configure ReqIF-based requirements exchange for customer and supplier workflows, and manage LiveDoc template configurations. • Set up full traceability configurations linking requirements, design artifacts, test cases, and change requests – critical for regulated environments (ISO 26262, IEC 62304, DO-178C). • Integrate Polarion with Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Confluence, and Siemens Teamcenter. • Monitor Polarion system performance, apply patches, and plan and execute version upgrades with minimal disruption. • Stay current on Polarion X (SaaS) capabilities, including Admin Console management and AI-powered features such as Polarion Copilot. • Manage source code repositories and branching strategies for Teamcenter customization artifacts using GitHub – including code reviews, pull request workflows, and release tagging. • Administer and triage Jira projects for PLM system change requests, bug tracking, and sprint planning; maintain Jira-Teamcenter or Jira-Polarion integration configurations. • Serve as the technical point of contact between engineering teams, IT infrastructure, and Siemens vendor support. • Maintain thorough, up-to-date documentation for system configurations, runbooks, upgrade procedures, integration specs, migration plans, and training materials. • Ensure compliance with IT security policies, audit requirements, software licensing agreements, and applicable industry standards. • Provide Level 2/3 support to end users; mentor junior administrators and deliver knowledge-sharing sessions. • Participate in Agile/sprint-based delivery cycles and collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipeline integrations (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions). • Contribute to capacity planning, infrastructure lifecycle management, and technology roadmap discussions. • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL databases in the context of Teamcenter or Polarion installations. • Proficiency with GitHub for source code management of Teamcenter customization artifacts – branching, pull requests, versioning. • Hands-on experience with Jira for change/defect tracking and integration with PLM/ALM toolchains. • Scripting experience for automation and migration tasks (Python, Shell/Bash, PowerShell). • Candidates should be comfortable working with some or all of the following technologies. Not expected to know every item, but depth in the core PLM stack is essential.
