Role description
CEIS | Government is seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Software Database Developer to support a team within Sandia National Laboratories. This role will focus on the design, development, and maintenance of a custom data solution that tracks and manages components, systems, and piece parts across a national security weapons program. Youll collaborate closely with engineers and technologists in a high-rigor environment where your software tools will directly support mission execution, system integrity, and performance accountability. This role is ideal for a software or database developer who thrives on solving the hard-to-own tasks that keep systems runningthose critical, complex, and often messy areas of the data lifecycle that are essential but under-loved. You will help bring clarity and structure to large, multi-component systems through smart coding, structured database design, and intuitive interfaces. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test and maintain a sound, user friendly custom database including collecting and analyzing component tracking data • Implement code for the logic developed through algorithm design and flowchart development • Build and maintain user interface backend logic to support decision-making and reporting needs • Knowledge and understanding of HITL (human-in-the-loop) approach • Collaborate with component engineers, to define system requirements and translate them into a functional software application. • Support data ingestion, validation, transformation, and visualization related to component health, system lineage, and testing outcomes • Participate in code reviews, system documentation, and change control processes • Manage integration with legacy systems. • Solve ambiguous technical problems with minimal guidance. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline • 3+ years of experience in software development, database management, or scientific programming • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar) • Familiarity with SQL and relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL) • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, data scientists, and mission managers • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting scientific or engineering teams in a national lab or R&D setting • Exposure to surveillance, diagnostics, or component life cycle tracking systems • Knowledge of Agile or hybrid development processes • Experience working with data visualization tools or frameworks • Existing Q clearance or active DOE/DOD security clearance CEIS | Government is a small business headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with key offices in San Francisco, CA and Pittsburgh, PA, and we are growing.
