Role description
About the role
We are recruiting for a Space Planning Analyst on a 9 month fixed term contract here at Tesco. In this role, you will support the Trade Planning Team to identify and deliver growth opportunities across seasonal events and promotional space. You will be responsible for producing clear, insightful reporting that enables data led decisions and helps optimise performance.
You will be responsible for
• Building robust event cascades that account for space constraints, phasing requirements, and country specific dynamics.
• Maintaining and interfacing with the store space database, ensuring store lists are accurate and aligned to available event space.
• Designing and delivering timely, insight led analysis across strategic projects, including space data, sales, density, and volume performance.
• Creating clear, decision led reporting to support space modelling, optimisation, and allocation for Event Manager decision making.
• Providing accurate and timely data to SRM and Supply Chain partners, ensuring space plans and store lists reflect event execution.
• Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex data issues to ensure reliable and robust analysis.
• Supporting the end to end process from planning and forecasting through to post event performance reviews and insights.
• Proactively identifying opportunities to standardise, simplify, and automate processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborating with Event Managers, Space, Range and Merchandising, Store Ordering, and Property teams to ensure alignment and effective execution.
• Overseeing the loading, extraction, and transformation of large datasets from the data warehouse.
• Conducting ad hoc research and analysis to understand performance trends and diagnose operational issues.
You will need
• A degree in a quantitative or retail related subject.
• Previous experience in retail, analytics, or merchandising, with analytical experience desirable but not essential.
• Familiarity with data manipulation or analytical tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, or VBA is advantageous.
• Understanding of cascading and range mix management principles.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insight.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• High attention to detail, with a proactive approach to learning and development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage workload effectively, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary
