Job Title - Splunk-Core Engineer / SME
Location - Remote (U.S. or Canada; must be able to work PST hours)
Role Type - Contract (6 months)
Must Have Skills:
• Deep expertise in Splunk, with a strong focus on ingest management (Edge Processors, Ingest Actions)
• Proven experience onboarding data sources and building end-to-end ingestion pipelines
• Hands-on ownership of full Splunk environments in smaller team settings (not siloed roles)
• Experience working within enterprise commercial environments (non-government)
• Principal/SME-level troubleshooting and problem-solving beyond standard runbooks
Responsibilities and Job Details:
• Own and manage core Splunk platform operations across the full lifecycle
• Design, build, and optimize data ingestion pipelines and onboarding processes
• Perform index management, performance monitoring, and system optimization
• Lead patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of the Splunk environment
• Troubleshoot complex platform issues and support incident response activities
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge-sharing materials
• Collaborate with stakeholders while operating as an independent, high-impact contributor
• Apply modern engineering practices including scripting, automation, and cloud-based solutions
• Support containerization and scalable architecture initiatives where applicable
• Contribute to continuous improvement through proactive problem-solving and innovation
• Ensure stable, secure, and efficient platform performance during business hours
• Participate in occasional after-hours maintenance or support windows as needed
