β€’ This position is not open yet and is dependent upon award of government contract β€’ Project Overview: This prospective contract opportunity supports the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) mission by providing enterprise-wide Information Technology Delivery and Operations Support Services (IT DOSS). The effort encompasses a broad range of IT services required to sustain, secure, and modernize FLETC’s training and operational environments across its headquarters and training delivery points. Services span application support, server and data center operations, network and transport infrastructure, cybersecurity and operations center monitoring, IT service management, end-user computing, audiovisual and collaboration technologies, database and storage administration, and program management support. The project emphasizes reliable day-to-day operations, rapid incident response to protect training continuity, and continual service improvement aligned with ITIL-based service management practices, while supporting evolving mission needs through scalable and integrated IT solutions. Primary Responsibilities: Design and implement database solutions supporting enterprise applications using Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and/or newer. Administer SQL Server databases, including schema management, performance monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting of database-related issues. Support database operational sustainment by maintaining backup and recovery procedures, validating recoverability, and coordinating restoration activities when required. Provide database support to application owners and infrastructure teams, ensuring database dependencies are understood and changes are executed safely. Develop and maintain scripts and queries used for operational support, testing, troubleshooting, and data validation. Coordinate database upgrades, patches, and configuration changes, ensuring stability and performance in production environments. Maintain database documentation including data structures, operational procedures, and configuration records sufficient for continuity and auditability. Support problem resolution and root cause analysis for database-related incidents, documenting findings and corrective actions. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of hands-on design and implementation of software and databases in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and/or newer. Demonstrated ability to design and implement database solutions, not only operate existing databases. Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning capability for SQL Server environments supporting production applications. Ability to coordinate with application and infrastructure stakeholders to resolve issues and implement changes safely. Strong documentation discipline for database configurations, schemas, and operational procedures. Desired Skills & Qualifications: Advanced degree is preferred but not required. Experience supporting databases in environments where security hardening, access controls, and audit requirements are operational priorities. Experience coordinating database support for enterprise applications with high availability or mission-critical requirements. Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, system analysis, or a related field, advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years hands-on design and implementation experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and/or newer.
