SQL Report Writer

Job Title: SQL Report Writer Location: Remote Duration: 6 Months Contract with possible extensions POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • The SQL Report Writer is responsible for working with internal stake holders across the company to build and automate reports, dashboard and customer correspondence templates. You will develop and implement processes and procedures for the development and administration of Reports. This role will also serve as an internal consultant with internal teams to help them select optimal data fields and design layouts. • We are seeking a candidate with a background in SQL and BI tools that will analyze, define, and document. A successful candidate will need to have great interpersonal skills, be self-driven, and have the ability to work with complex groups of both technical and non-technical teams. Experience in the medical insurance industry is a plus. • The incumbent is expected to communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, customers, and the public, and to be respectful and courteous in the conduct of this position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Essential job functions include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change. • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for reporting. • Translate and dashboard requirements from internal stakeholders into reporting solutions to meet business needs. • Work with internal stakeholders to fully understand their business problem and design solutions to meet their needs. • Gather requirements and scope of data and reporting needs from internal clients. • Gain understanding of the impact and importance of the data underlying reports and dashboards and become an expert in its use. • Design an automation of reoccurring report deliverables with BOLD reports and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). • Proficient in writing queries, joins, stored procedures, and optimizing performance in databases like SQL Server, SQL. • Strong SQL skills for querying databases, experience in data cleaning, extraction, validation, and basic statistical analysis are important for data interpretation. • Proficiency Reporting Applications such as Power BI Paginated Reports, BOLD reports, SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Service). • Develop methods for improving internal techniques and processes in creating highly effective reports and dashboards. • Maintain audit performance dashboards from external data sources, leveraging and improving on existing templates. • Ensure a high level of accuracy and quality in all produced work. • Document report design, development processes, and technical specifications. • Ensure systems and processes align with industry regulations such as HIPAA, CMS guidelines. • Identify potential risks in system design or implementation and propose mitigation strategies. • Support external audits and regulatory reviews by providing system-related documentation and insights. Minimum Education: • College Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business administration, or related field in the absence of equivalent work experience. Minimum Experience: • 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Report Writer/Analysts, or similar role within the medical insurance or healthcare industry. • Hands-on experience with reporting tools and visual studio (e.g., SSRS, BOLD reports, Power BI). • High proficiency with SQL and database management. • Proven analytical abilities. • Experience in generating process documentation and reports. • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to translate data into actionable insights. Other Qualifications: • Working knowledge of programming theory and various programming software and languages. (i.e. MySQL, C#, Transact-SQL, python, .Net). • Strong working knowledge of relevant Microsoft applications, including Visio. • Proven ability to manage projects and user testing. • Extensive experience with data visualization. • High proficiency in technical writing.
