Business Data Analyst
About The Role
Individual contributor delivering the full range of analytics: descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive, in a consultative partnership with assigned business areas. Requires strong business acumen, hands-on data skills, and expertise in leading BI/analytics tools. Some roles may call for specialized business knowledge depending on placement.
Responsibilities
β’ Partner with business leaders to define needs, technical requirements, and how insights should be delivered
β’ Pull data securely from the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Clientβs systems, and approved third-party sources
β’ Build dashboards, reports, and decision models (Power BI, Tableau), from ad hoc requests to production-grade solutions, working with technical SMEs to operationalize recurring jobs
β’ Develop forecasts and predictive/prescriptive models; support scenario planning with business leaders; validate and maintain models per governance policy
β’ Deliver original analysis in response to business trends or stakeholder questions, with clear findings and recommendations
β’ Peer review other analystsβ work; maintain existing MI solutions for accuracy, access, and documentation
Qualifications
Education & Experience
β’ Bachelorβs in a quantitative field (stats, data analytics, finance/economics, CS, MIS, business admin, or similar)
β’ 3+ years delivering analytics in a business-facing, consultative role
β’ 3+ years across the full analytics spectrum (descriptive through prescriptive)
β’ Specialized business experience may be required depending on placement
Skills
β’ Expert-level SQL and database/data management practices; able to source and work with data independently
β’ Power BI or Tableau (Creator/Power User level), with ability to pick up the other
β’ Skilled at building and validating data-driven decision models
β’ Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira
β’ Strong consultative skills, able to translate data into decisions and evaluate outcomes
β’ Excellent communication paired with solid industry/business knowledge
