Role description
Senior Data Analyst
The Senior Data Analyst will support and analyze data anomalies across multiple data environments, including (but not limited to) data warehousing, operational data stores, and data integration/ETL processes. This role is primarily supportive, working closely with cross-functional partners such as business stakeholders, database administrators, ETL developers, and data management teams to provide analysis for complex data-related initiatives. The analyst will also contribute to the setup, documentation, and ongoing configuration of data governance and master data management solutions. A strong passion for data, solid SQL expertise, and strong analytical and communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
• Investigate and analyze data anomalies and issues reported by business or technical teams
• Collaborate with ETL, data replication, and database teams to document data transformations, data movement, and derivations
• Support and promote consistent, proactive methodologies for data movement and data transformation processes
• Assist with production validation, issue resolution, and break-fix activities related to data structures, replication, and derivations
• Participate in configuration and ongoing maintenance of data virtualization and master data management tools
• Maintain and update documentation related to data standard definitions, data dictionaries, and data lineage
• Gather information from various sources and identify patterns, trends, and insights
• Work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced agile environment while managing multiple priorities
Qualifications
• 4+ years of SQL experience working with OLTP, data warehouse, or big-data environments
• 4+ years of experience with enterprise-scale database platforms (e.g., Exadata, SQL Server)
• 4+ years of experience in a data analyst or similar analytical role
• Strong attention to detail
• 2+ years of experience writing medium- to complex-level stored procedures (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team setting
• Extensive experience writing complex SQL queries
• Strong understanding of data processing and movement technologies, including ETL, APIs, OLAP, and data tracking best practices
• Effective communication skills
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
• Experience with data virtualization tools (e.g., Denodo) is a plus
• Experience with master data management solutions is a plus
• Experience with big-data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, MongoDB) is a plus
• Experience with Postgres or cloud-based data platforms is a plus
