Role description
BICP, a market leader in Decision Intelligence, enterprise modernization, and data-driven transformation, is hiring an Sr. Data Engineer, to support a premium lifestyle apparel client in San Diego, California. We are seeking to hire a Senior Data Engineer to support and enhance our clients Enterprise Data Platform while enabling analytics, reporting, and emerging AI capabilities across the organization. This individual will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data models, and cloud-based data solutions that support critical business functions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong experience in modern cloud data platforms, data integration, and data warehousing who enjoys collaborating with business and technical teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions. Key Responsibilities Data Engineering & Platform Development β€’ Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration processes. β€’ Build and optimize ELT/ETL workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Snowflake, SQL, and related technologies. β€’ Support data ingestion, transformation, and delivery for both operational and analytical use cases. β€’ Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, and availability across the enterprise data platform. β€’ Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, workflows, and production issues. Data Modeling & Analytics Support β€’ Develop and maintain data models that support enterprise reporting and analytics. β€’ Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and reporting teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions. β€’ Support self-service reporting and business intelligence initiatives. β€’ Contribute to semantic layer development and data standardization efforts. β€’ Enable reporting across key business domains including sales, marketing, supply chain, planning, operations, and product development. Cloud Data Platform Support β€’ Support the ongoing evolution of the Azure-based Enterprise Data Platform. β€’ Work with structured and semi-structured data sources across multiple business systems. β€’ Participate in platform enhancements, performance tuning, and data governance initiatives. β€’ Collaborate with architects and technical leadership on future platform improvements. AI & Data Innovation β€’ Support data engineering initiatives related to AI, machine learning, and LLM-based solutions. β€’ Assist in preparing and organizing enterprise data for AI and advanced analytics use cases. β€’ Contribute to semantic models and data structures that support AI-enabled applications and intelligent data retrieval. Agile Delivery & Collaboration β€’ Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Agile development processes. β€’ Collaborate with business users, analysts, product owners, and technical teams to deliver solutions aligned to business priorities. β€’ Document data flows, technical solutions, and operational processes. β€’ Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and delivery practices. Required Qualifications Experience β€’ 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related roles. β€’ Strong experience building and supporting cloud-based data platforms. β€’ Hands-on experience with: Snowflake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL and Azure Cloud Services β€’ Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines. β€’ Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts. β€’ Experience supporting analytics and reporting environments. β€’ Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies. Technical Skills β€’ Advanced SQL development and optimization. β€’ Data pipeline development and orchestration. β€’ Data integration across multiple source systems. β€’ Data quality, validation, and troubleshooting. β€’ Experience working with large and complex datasets. Nice-to-Have Qualifications β€’ Experience designing enterprise data architecture and data platform roadmaps. β€’ Experience with MicroStrategy/Strategy, Power BI, Tableau, or other BI platforms. β€’ Experience supporting AI, machine learning, LLM, or semantic layer initiatives. β€’ Experience with Databricks, dbt, Spark, Python, or related modern data engineering tools. β€’ Retail, consumer products, apparel, supply chain, or manufacturing industry experience. β€’ Experience participating in platform modernization or cloud migration initiatives. β€’ Exposure to data governance, metadata management, and master data management programs.
