Role description
Position Overview Ledgent Technology's client is actively seeking a highly analytical and independent Senior Data Scientist to join their team in California. This role is part of a significant data modernization initiative within a healthcare environment, utilizing lakehouse and medallion architecture. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineering, program, and clinical teams to deliver advanced analytics, validate and reconcile complex datasets, and develop dashboards that drive decision-making. This position also supports an Electronic Health Record modernization effort, blending strong SQL and analytics expertise with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful business and clinical insights within AWS. Responsibilities • Develop and maintain dashboards using Tableau or Power BI to deliver actionable insights. • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to analyze large datasets. • Support data ingestion, pipelines, and performance monitoring within Databricks. • Perform data validation and reconciliation across multiple systems at scale. • Analyze healthcare or program data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities. • Translate technical data structures into clear insights for business and clinical stakeholders. • Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, program leadership, and clinical operations. • Support data governance processes and ensure data accuracy and consistency. • Understand and document data flows across systems. • Provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic initiatives. • Contribute analytics support to EHR modernization efforts. Qualifications Required Qualifications • Strong SQL expertise with ability to write complex queries. • Experience with Databricks and lakehouse or medallion architecture. • Experience with AWS or similar cloud-based environments. • Hands-on dashboard development using Tableau or Power BI. • Experience working with data pipelines, ingestion, and monitoring. • Strong experience with data validation and reconciliation at scale. • Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and generate insights. • Strong communication skills to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with machine learning concepts or applied modeling. • Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation frameworks. • Experience with RDS or relational database systems. • Familiarity with DevOps practices. • Healthcare, patient data, or EHR experience. Functional Skills • Strong understanding of data governance principles. • Ability to interpret ambiguous datasets and extract meaningful insights. • Clear understanding of data lineage and system data flows. • Ability to connect analytics to program outcomes and clinical operations. • Strong troubleshooting and data quality validation skills. Work Hours Monday to Friday Benefits The position offers a competitive pay range between $55.00 and $72.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
