Job Type: Contract -W2
Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Kafka Developer with ~10 years of software engineering experience to design, build and operate real-time streaming solutions using Apache Kafka. This individual will partner with architects, data engineers, business stakeholders and DevOps teams to create scalable, high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines supporting mission-critical business systems.

• Design, develop and maintain Kafka-based data streaming pipelines (producers, consumers, topics, partitions, connectors, streams) for ingestion, processing and delivery of large-volume real-time data.
• Work with Kafka ecosystem components: Connect, Streams API, Schema Registry (Avro/Protobuf), MirrorMaker, etc.
• Collaborate with cloud/infra teams to deploy Kafka clusters (on-premises, cloud or hybrid) and ensure high availability, resilience, scalability and fault tolerance.
• Monitor, tune and troubleshoot Kafka clusters and streaming applications: throughput, latency, partitioning strategies, consumer lag, resource usage.
• Create and maintain documentation: system designs, data flows, topic lifecycles, schemas, operational run books and best practices.
• Work closely with DevOps/CI-CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and monitoring/logging tooling to automate deployments and ensure observability of streaming solutions.
Required Qualifications
• ~10 years of software engineering experience, with at least several years focused on real-time streaming/data engineering using Kafka.
• Proven hands-on experience with Kafka architecture: brokers, topics, partitions, producers/consumers, Connect, Streams.
• Strong knowledge of Java (or Scala) and experience building microservices (e.g., Spring Boot) that interact with Kafka.
• Experience in designing and implementing event-driven architectures and streaming data pipelines at scale.
• Solid background in deploying & operating Kafka clusters (on-premises or cloud), including monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (Terraform/Helm) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), integrating streaming solutions with cloud data services.
