Overview TalentFish is casting a line for a Software Engineer - DevSecOps for our premier client. This is a 6-month contract with possibility to extend or convert. This is a new role within our client's infrastructure team! The Software Engineer DevSecOps will build out and maintain the open-source infrastructure, CI/CD, and cloud foundations needed to support secure, scalable web applications, accelerate DevSecOps adoption, and ensure operational reliability. What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent). Minimum of 1-2+ years of software engineering experience. Proficiency in an interpreted language such as Python, JavaScript, etc. Python preferred. Experience with shell scripting. Linux is a Plus. Experience working with a relational database (e.g. PostgreSQL, MariaDB). Experience with a public cloud platform (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure). Nice to Have Skills (Not Required) Linux system administration skills. Prior contributions to open source projects. Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g. GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins). Familiarity with container runtimes (Docker, Podman). Familiarity with orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm). Experience using configuration management / IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform). What You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position) Collaborate with a small, transparent, and highly collaborative team to define and support infrastructure needs. Develop web applications, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and manage cloud infrastructure to support DevSecOps practices. Build and improve open-source CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure that support an open-source platform. Contribute Python-based, reusable components to strengthen our open-source CI/CD pipeline library. Contribute code and documentation to public repos - commits and fixes are shared openly. Author internal and external documentation (infrastructure, processes, runbooks). Help close gaps highlighted in audits (backup strategy, SSO adoption, data handling). Respond to incident and issue reports. Triage and fix issues, write regression tests, and improve reliability of systems. Support ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and reliability improvements. Compensation and Employment This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected salary range for this position is $35 - $58 per hour W2, depending on experience and qualifications.
