Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Engineer for Storage and Data Protection to provide senior-level engineering leadership for enterprise storage and data protection platforms. This role focuses on storage architecture, data protection design, cyber resiliency, and lifecycle management. The position is a senior engineering role concentrated on platform standards, automation, and complex infrastructure delivery rather than day-to-day administration. This role reports to the infrastructure leadership team and is based in either Palm Beach Gardens or Miami.
Key Responsibilities
•
• Develop and maintain storage and backup standards, reference architectures, configuration baselines, and security standards.
• Lead the design, engineering, and implementation of enterprise storage and data protection solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Act as the technical product owner for storage and data protection services, including standards, roadmap development, and lifecycle planning.
• Support Dell EMC enterprise storage platforms, including Isilon, PowerMax, and Brocade SAN fabric.
• Support Rubrik as the primary enterprise data protection platform, including backup policy design and recovery workflows.
• Lead cyber resiliency engineering efforts related to immutable backups, ransomware recovery, and recovery validation.
• Define and implement automation for storage and data protection operations using tools such as Ansible, REST APIs, and Terraform.
• Support cloud storage and data protection strategy across AWS and GCP.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for storage, SAN fabric, backup, recovery, and performance issues.
• Partner with cyber, resiliency, cloud, database, application, and network teams on cross-functional projects.
• Lead technical workstreams and provide direction to indirect project resources.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 10+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, including 5+ years of hands-on storage and/or data protection engineering in enterprise environments. Deep technical experience with enterprise storage, backup, recovery, replication, and lifecycle management.
Technical Skills:
• Experience with Dell EMC enterprise storage platforms (Isilon/PowerScale, PowerMax) and Brocade SAN fabric technologies.
• Strong experience with Rubrik, including backup policy design, recovery workflows, and platform management.
• Experience with cyber resiliency, immutable backups, ransomware recovery, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation patterns using Ansible, REST APIs, Terraform, Git, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with AWS and/or GCP storage services and hybrid cloud data protection models.
• Experience defining monitoring requirements, operational metrics, and service catalog offerings, particularly with ServiceNow.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP or DDVE in AWS.
• Experience with GCP storage and backup services.
• Experience with Dell Data Domain, PowerProtect, Avamar, or Networker.
• Experience with NetApp ONTAP.
• Experience with cloud-native backup, archival, and recovery services.
• Experience working in regulated or security-focused enterprise environments.
• Relevant storage, backup, cloud, automation, or security certifications (e.g., Dell, Rubrik, AWS, Google Cloud, Terraform, Ansible, ITIL).
