Role description
Supply Chain Planner (Contract)
Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Summary
This position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal data center capacity utilization by operationalizing server rack planning processes. You will be responsible for executing daily assignments that match demand lines to the most appropriate data centers, working within established procedures while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams. You will serve as a key liaison between engineering groups and planning teams, ensuring that capacity reservations are successful and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Job Responsibilities
β’ Execute standard operating procedures to perform data center assignments for approximately 30 demand lines daily over a six-hour period
β’ Coordinate closely with engineering groups and planning teams to align on assignments and address operational issues
β’ Publish daily progress reports by 3pm summarizing completed work and highlighting any blockers
β’ Analyze data to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and make informed assignment decisions
β’ Refine and update standard operating procedures based on real-world experiences and edge cases
β’ Escalate blockers and critical issues that impact assignment completion
β’ Ensure optimal data center capacity utilization and successful reservation outcomes
β’ Drive issue resolution to closure independently while maintaining strong ownership of assignments
Requirements
β’ 4-6 years of proven experience in an operations role
β’ Experience in supply chain planning or operations
β’ Background working in cloud infrastructure or data center environments
β’ Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
β’ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
β’ Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and resolve discrepancies
β’ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data-driven decision making
β’ Ability to follow structured processes while identifying improvement opportunities
β’ Strong coordination and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
β’ Process improvement mindset with experience creating and refining standard operating procedures
β’ Independent problem-solving abilities with a strong sense of ownership
β’ Time management skills to meet daily deadlines and productivity targets
β’ SQL query writing and database navigation
β’ Power BI dashboard creation and data visualization
β’ Excel macro development and automation
