Role description
Support Engineer (Bug Fixing & Data Quality) Location: Remote W2 Contract Required • Strong SQL — ability to write complex investigative queries against large clinical datasets • Java experience — comfortable reading, debugging, and fixing code in a Java codebase • Production debugging skills — can trace issues across APIs, databases, and data pipelines • Comfortable working independently and under time pressure on time-sensitive issues Preferred • Healthcare data experience (FHIR, HL7, clinical data models) • Experience with HAPI FHIR or similar healthcare Java libraries • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker) for log access and environment • troubleshooting • On-call or incident response experience Day-to-Day • Investigate and resolve data quality issues reported by clinical teams or internal monitoring • Debug and fix bugs in the Java codebase — ranging from data mapping errors to API failures • Write SQL queries to trace data lineage, identify root causes, and validate fixes • Participate in on-call rotation — respond to production alerts and triage incidents • Document issues and fixes to build team knowledge and reduce repeat incidents • Address tech debt that contributes to recurring bugs or instability
