Role description
Base Location: Glasgow, Reading, Perth or Inverness. You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of these locations.
Salary: £69,105 - £81,406 (depending on skills and experience) + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract | Flexible First options available
You will
• Ensure that the SSE Distribution Network is modelled accurately along with the interfaces with our Transmission Operators and that the required data for detailed steady state and dynamic analysis of the distribution network is controlled. Follow recognised data management and cleansing processes into the production of reports and forecasting. Ensure that reports are produced to a high degree of accuracy. Ensure there is documentation of processes and methodologies for report production.
• Ensure the SSE Distribution Network performs in compliance with the Grid Code, and licence obligations, and carry out a wide range of simulations and studies including power flow analysis, fault level studies, voltage and thermal capability, transient stability, fast switching studies, harmonic and power quality analysis to ensure obligations are met.
• Develop publicly available data, to produce forecasts aligned to licensed reporting requirements including but not limited to; Long Term Development Statement (LTDS), Load Index Reporting (LI), Week 24, EDCM & CDCM, ED2 Outputs submissions. Develop network constraint and opportunity information and share with appropriate stakeholders and publish. Produce the Network Development Plan (NDP) and Load Forecasts in line with the yearly / bi-annual reporting cycles.
• Support upcoming data exchange reforms of LTDS and Week24 using CIM integration. Recommend improvements of technical reporting to improve the experience for stakeholders and customers. Propose changes in system policy through the relevant industry codes with relation to methodologies for forecasting and reporting.
You have
• Understanding of statutory, regulatory & license requirements, industry wide codes, network and engineering standards.
• HNC in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience, or relevant STEM degree.
• Fundamental knowledge of the design, operation, protection and safety of electricity networks, and the interface with Transmission.
• Experience in using Power System Analysis software e.g. PowerFactory, PSSE and willingness to learn new systems. Ability to use Python and understanding of CIM an advantage.
• Experience of understanding and implementing robust data governance processes, ability to analyse large data sets to produce key reports and can identify the commercial implications of the outputs of the analysis and communicate this with key stakeholders.
