Role description
Role: Data Engineering Lead (Talend + Workday) Location: Remote Contract Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Workday Integration Engineer with strong hands-on Talend expertise to design, build, and deliver enterprise-grade ETL pipelines and integration workflows. The ideal candidate has direct experience integrating Workday as a source or target system within a multi-system enterprise landscape and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, fixed-timeline engagement ·Develop, test, and deploy Talend ETL jobs using components including tMap, tJoin, tAggregateRow, tReplicate, tParallelize, tFilterRow, tFlowToIterate, tSort, and tDie ·Build reusable frameworks, error handling routines, logging mechanisms, and reconciliation workflows following enterprise integration standards ·Deploy and schedule jobs via Talend Admin Console (TAC); manage job monitoring and alerting ·Implement data quality checks including schema compliance, null handling, duplicate detection, and business rule validation using Talend Data Quality components ·Manage ETL source code via Git; participate in CI/CD pipeline using Bamboo or equivalent tooling Required Qualifications ·10+ years of overall IT experience; minimum 5 years in data engineering / ETL development ·8+ years of hands-on Talend experience (Talend Data Integration, Talend Cloud/Hybrid Studio, or Talend Enterprise — versions 6.x / 7.x / 8.x) ·Demonstrated experience integrating with Workday as a source or target system (HCM, Payroll, or Financial data flows) ·Proven experience delivering ETL integrations across at least two of the following: Salesforce, Oracle EBS, JD Edwards, SAP/Concur, ServiceNow, Microsoft NAV ·Talend: tMap, tJoin, tAggregateRow, tReplicate, tParallelize, tFlowToIterate, tSort, tFilterRow, tDie, tUnique — advanced proficiency required ·Talend Admin Console (TAC): job deployment, scheduling, monitoring ·Talend Data Quality: schema compliance, data stewardship, business rule validation ·Languages: SQL (complex queries, stored procedures), Python (data processing, validation scripts), Java (Talend custom code routines) ·Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, or equivalent RDBMS; strong SQL optimization skills ·Version control: Git (branching, merging, PR reviews) ·API integration: REST/SOAP API consumption within Talend pipelines Workday-Specific (Preferred) ·Experience with Workday Integration Cloud Platform (ICWP) or Workday Studio ·Familiarity with Workday web services (WWS), RaaS reports, or EIB integrations ·Understanding of Workday HCM data model: workers, positions, organizations, cost centers
