Tandem Engineer

Role: Tandem Architect/Engineer Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ Duration: 6+ Months Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Working knowledge of Tandem (NonStop) systems, including Line Handlers, Device Handlers, and system configurations. • Experience supporting or working with Automated Teller Machines (ATM) or terminal-based environments. • Ability to triage and resolve issues using hardware and software systems on which terminal environments are configured. • Experience collaborating with clients, internal teams, and third‑party vendors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities • Provide production support and issue triage for ATM and terminal-based systems running on Tandem platforms. • Configure, maintain, and develop new Tandem system configurations to support evolving ATM and logical unit (LU) requirements. • Document ATM environments, configurations, and operational procedures to support a new production environment. • Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting scripts to track the health of production systems using tools such as Splunk, Moogsoft, and ExtraHop. • Analyze alerts and escalations to troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. • Follow established processes and techniques to ensure system reliability, stability, and compliance with operational standards. • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, vendors, and business partners to support system enhancements and issue resolution. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working within or transitioning teams to an Agile framework. • Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and ExtraHop. • Knowledge of ITIL-based production support best practices. • Familiarity with common networking concepts and practices. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment to identify issues and recommend effective solutions. • Prior experience or strong domain knowledge in ATM systems is a plus.
