Role description
Role: Tandem Architect/Engineer
Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ
Duration: 6+ Months
Minimum Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ Working knowledge of Tandem (NonStop) systems, including Line Handlers, Device Handlers, and system configurations.
β’ Experience supporting or working with Automated Teller Machines (ATM) or terminal-based environments.
β’ Ability to triage and resolve issues using hardware and software systems on which terminal environments are configured.
β’ Experience collaborating with clients, internal teams, and thirdβparty vendors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
β’ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
β’ Provide production support and issue triage for ATM and terminal-based systems running on Tandem platforms.
β’ Configure, maintain, and develop new Tandem system configurations to support evolving ATM and logical unit (LU) requirements.
β’ Document ATM environments, configurations, and operational procedures to support a new production environment.
β’ Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting scripts to track the health of production systems using tools such as Splunk, Moogsoft, and ExtraHop.
β’ Analyze alerts and escalations to troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
β’ Follow established processes and techniques to ensure system reliability, stability, and compliance with operational standards.
β’ Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, vendors, and business partners to support system enhancements and issue resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience working within or transitioning teams to an Agile framework.
β’ Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and ExtraHop.
β’ Knowledge of ITIL-based production support best practices.
β’ Familiarity with common networking concepts and practices.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment to identify issues and recommend effective solutions.
β’ Prior experience or strong domain knowledge in ATM systems is a plus.
