Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for a Tandem ATM Configuration Engineer to add to their growing team. Our client supports over 70,000 ATMs nationwide and is seeking an experienced professional to help modernize their Tandem NonStop mainframe environment. This role focuses on configuring ATMs and Logical Units (LUs) on Tandem systems, enabling clients to swing traffic between primary and backup sites, and building new functionality to support seamless failover and future ATM configurations. You will collaborate closely with development teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders while documenting processes and enhancing monitoring capabilities.
Responsibilities:
β’ Configure ATMs and Logical Units (LUs) on Tandem NonStop systems, including Line Handlers and Device Handlers.
β’ Develop and implement functionality to allow clients to swing ATM traffic between the two mainframe locations for failover and redundancy.
β’ Work with the development team to understand current configurations and build forward-looking solutions for new ATM setups.
β’ Interact with clients, internal teams, and third-party vendors to triage and resolve issues using hardware and software systems where terminals are configured.
β’ Document ATM configurations, create supporting materials for the new environment, and assist in transitioning to enhanced processes.
β’ Develop scripting for alerts to monitor production systems using tools such as Splunk, Moogsoft, or ExtraHop to enable faster response to escalated incidents.
β’ Provide excellent communication and support across all levels, including clients, business partners, and vendors.
β’ Apply analytical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues and recommend effective solutions.
Requirements:
β’ Solid knowledge of Tandem (NonStop) systems, including Line Handlers, Device Handlers, and LU configurations for ATMs.
β’ Experience with Automated Teller Machines (ATM) environments and configurations is strongly preferred.
β’ Working knowledge of message-level handling on Tandem systems.
β’ Ability to interact professionally with clients, employees, and third-party vendors to resolve issues following defined processes and techniques.
β’ Experience creating and maintaining documentation for ATM configurations and new environments.
β’ Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Moogsoft, or ExtraHop (experience developing alerts/scripts is a plus).
β’ Excellent communication skills and a self-motivated, proactive approach.
β’ Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to use independent judgment.
Preferred Requirements:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
β’ Experience transitioning teams to an Agile Framework.
β’ Knowledge of ITIL production support best practices.
β’ Familiarity with common networking practices.
β’ Certifications or hands-on experience with Dynatrace or additional monitoring tools.
