Role description
We are seeking a Contract Technical Business Analyst to support a project-based software implementation effort focused on requirements discovery, technical documentation, workflow analysis, API validation, and release readiness. This contractor will work closely with product, development, QA, and implementation teams to translate documentation, API YAML files, and existing implementation references into clear Jira requirements, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and Confluence workflow documentation.
Contract Details
• Engagement Type: Contract – 6 months
• Role Focus: Technical business analysis, API documentation review, requirements definition, Jira ticket support, workflow documentation, and functional validation.
• Work Style: Collaborative, delivery-focused, and comfortable working directly with product, development, QA, and implementation stakeholders.
• Ideal Start: As soon as possible, based on project needs and candidate availability.
Key Responsibilities
• Review documentation, API YAML files, and related implementation materials to identify and document business and technical requirements.
• Analyze other client implementations to identify gaps, configuration differences, and requirements needed for the current project scope.
• Create clear Jira user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and supporting notes for development and QA teams.
• Document end-to-end workflows in Confluence, including business process steps, system interactions, dependencies, and validation points.
• Respond to development and QA questions on assigned tickets to keep project work moving and reduce delivery blockers.
• Identify and document test scenarios that align with requirements, workflows, API behavior, and expected system outcomes.
• Test and verify functionality as tickets are completed to confirm acceptance criteria and business expectations are met.
• Support pre-release validation to help ensure functionality is accurate, complete, and ready for deployment.
• Assist with issue investigation, defect triage, requirement clarification, and implementation support during active delivery cycles.
Required Skills and Experience
• Prior contract, consulting, or project-based experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role.
• Ability to ramp quickly on technical documentation, implementation context, APIs, YAML files, workflows, and project requirements.
• Hands-on experience with APIs, API testing concepts, Postman, and validation of request and response behavior.
• Strong experience writing Jira user stories, detailed requirements, acceptance criteria, supporting notes, and test scenarios.
• Experience creating clear Confluence documentation for workflows, business processes, system interactions, and implementation details.
• Ability to compare current and prior implementations to identify gaps, risks, assumptions, and required changes.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently while collaborating with product, development, QA, and implementation stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented approach to documentation, ticket support, testing, verification, and release readiness.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting DMV, MVD, vehicle, registration, title, or government systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with agile delivery practices, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release validation.
• Experience working with distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced delivery environment.
Success Profile
The ideal contractor is analytical, self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to ramp quickly in a project environment. They are comfortable interpreting technical and implementation documentation, asking targeted questions, producing clear requirements, supporting Jira ticket execution, and validating delivered functionality with minimal oversight.
