Role description
Technical Business Analyst (W2 Contract) Location: Fully Remote (Eastern or Central Time Zones) Job Type: W2 Contract (1- year with likely extension) NO C2C, NO SPONSORSHIP Overview We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join our team on a W2 contract basis. This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones who are authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. In this role, you will partner closely with the Product Owners and the Software Development team to define technical requirements supporting the development and integration of a proprietary scheduling platform. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, is highly self-directed, and has the technical acumen to translate business needs into actionable user stories and requirements for Agile teams. Manager Notes: This role is centered around an enterprise scheduling system being built from the ground up. Experience with system integrations and implementations is highly valuable. The analyst will actively manage backlogs and may support developers with reverse engineering efforts when needed. Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to elicit, analyze, and refine business and technical requirements • Translate high-level business needs into detailed technical requirements and user stories for development teams • Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, scope, and expectations • Utilize SQL to analyze, validate, and extract data across multiple systems • Perform detailed data mapping to support accurate source-to-target transformations and system integrations • Partner with Scrum teams to define features, break down work, and manage the product backlog • Drive clarity around scope, feasibility, and solution direction • Proactively identify gaps and independently research, document, and clarify requirements • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives Qualifications • 4+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst in a software development environment • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and technically detailed user stories and acceptance criteria • Comfortable working independently with minimal direction to gather and validate requirements • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, architects, and business stakeholders • Intermediate SQL skills • Strong experience with data mapping • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities • Technical background or experience working closely with engineering teams is strongly preferred • Experience supporting business system implementations is highly desired • Experience with enterprise systems or large-scale application development • Familiarity with API integrations, data mapping, and/or cloud technologies
