Role description
Technical Data Business Analyst
Location: UK (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site)
Type: Contract (day rate/inside)
Rate: £300–£350/day
Sector: Insurance broking
The Opportunity:
A leading insurance broker is modernising its broking systems, data and reporting landscape and looking for a Technical Data Business Analyst (circa 2–3 years’ experience) who can operate end-to-end across requirements, data transformation, and reporting to bring complex, fast-moving operational data (e.g., Jira workflows) to life in Power BI.
Insurance experience isn’t required if you have experience in preparing raw data, ETL/data mapping, data visualisation, and display clear business acumen.
The main responsibilities:
• Own the reporting journey end-to-end: gather requirements, shape logic, transform data, and deliver clear, performant dashboards.
• Translate dynamic operational data (e.g., Jira tasks moving through workflows) into robust metrics.
• Transform data for reporting and define table/semantic-layer requirements for accuracy and maintainability.
• Migrate and consolidate broking solutions to a modern platform
• Work within a modern stack that includes low-code/visual ETL and Python-friendly tooling, plus Power BI for delivery.
The ideal candidate:
• ~2–3 years in a Data Engineering or Analyst role with hands-on experience with raw data.
• Solid SQL fundamentals and practical ETL know-how (low-code tools + data modelling concepts).
• Proficiency in Power BI (or similar) to build reliable, maintainable dashboards; understanding of model design and performance.
• Clear business acumen, proactivity, problem-solving, and evidence of high achievement.
Nice-to-Haves:
• Experience reporting on workflow-driven data (e.g., Jira) and translating it into meaningful operational insights.
• Exposure to governed self-service analytics, data quality and lineage best practices.
Why This Role:
• Join a visible, high-impact modernisation with tangible business outcomes.
• Shape how operational data is consumed—your dashboards will be rolled out across multiple projects.
• Shape the future of digital insurance broking
