Technical Lead (Node.js / NestJS / AWS)
Location: New Jersey (Hybrid - Day 1 Onsite)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable cloud-native applications for enterprise environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Node.js, NestJS, MongoDB, and AWS, along with experience building modern microservices and REST APIs.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor development teams, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions while following Agile development practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the architecture, design, and development of enterprise-grade applications using Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and MongoDB.
• Design and develop scalable REST APIs and microservices following modern architectural best practices.
• Build and optimize MongoDB schemas, data models, and database performance.
• Develop cloud-native applications leveraging AWS services.
• Design scalable data models, data mapping, and integration solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, code reviews, and effort estimations.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure application security, reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Mentor engineers, promote coding standards, and champion engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive continuous improvements.
• Contribute to AI-assisted software development initiatives using modern Generative AI technologies and development tools.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 12-15 years of software development experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and MongoDB.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and Microservices Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging technologies.
• Familiarity with API Gateway, serverless architectures, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Strong understanding of Git, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of application security principles and API best practices.
• Experience leveraging Generative AI tools and AI-assisted development to improve engineering productivity.
• Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within the Insurance industry.
• Understanding of enterprise business workflows and system integrations.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and high-volume applications.
