Role description
Our client is seeking a Hands-On Technical Lead to lead a Scrum team while actively contributing to the design and development of scalable, AI-driven systems. This role requires a strong balance of technical leadership, hands-on engineering, AWS architecture, and AI agent development.
The ideal candidate is a player-coachβsomeone who can define architecture, guide a team, and still write production-quality code.
This role is on a contractual-basis, full-time hours Mon-Fri, on-site in Houston, Texas, projected to be 6 months project duration MINIMUM plus possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead a Scrum team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and code-level guidance
β’ Actively contribute to hands-on development (backend and/or full-stack)
β’ Extensive experience in AWS deployments
β’ Experience in architecture
β’ Design and implement scalable system architectures on AWS
β’ Build and deploy AI-powered solutions, including AI agents and agent-based workflows
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software in an Agile environment
β’ Drive best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and system reliability
β’ Be the technical lead for the Scrum team (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
Required Qualifications
β’ Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer within a Scrum/Agile team
β’ Strong hands-on coding experience (recent and ongoing)
β’ Deep experience designing and deploying systems on AWS (e.g., Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, API Gateway, RDS, etc.)
β’ Experience building AI/GenAI solutions, including:
β’ LLM integrations
β’ AI agent development and orchestration
β’ Solid understanding of software architecture and system design
β’ Experience with modern backend technologies (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java)
β’ Experience with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen)
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Familiarity with RAG pipelines and multi-agent systems
β’ Frontend experience (React, TypeScript) is a plus
β’ AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect) are a plus
β’ Scrum Master certification is a plus
