Technical Manager – AI & Automation

Job Title: Technical Manager – AI & Automation Location: Hybrid – Deerfield, IL Contract: 6+ Months (Possible Extension) Job Overview We are seeking a hands-on Technical Manager with deep expertise in AI, automation, and intelligent system development. This role combines technical leadership, architecture oversight, and strategic execution across healthcare and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable automation solutions and leading a high-performing, geographically distributed technical team. Key Responsibilities AI & Automation Development • Design, build, and deploy AI/ML models and automation workflows. • Develop automation using Power Automate, Power Apps, and low-code platforms. • Prototype automation tools for manufacturing, quality, compliance, and operations. • Build intelligent AI Agents and scalable automation utilities. Process Optimization • Analyze, optimize, and re-engineer business processes. • Identify automation opportunities across R&D, supply chain, and clinical operations. • Integrate automations with ERP, MES, and QMS platforms. AI Governance & Strategy • Establish and manage AI governance frameworks, standards, and policies. • Ensure ethical, compliant, and secure deployment of AI technologies. Technical Leadership • Lead by example with hands-on development. • Conduct design/code reviews and define engineering best practices. • Mentor junior team members and drive continuous upskilling. Architecture & Infrastructure • Partner with enterprise architecture to deliver scalable, secure AI infrastructure. • Evaluate and integrate emerging AI/automation technologies. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing stakeholders. • Translate business requirements into clear technical solutions. • Present technical recommendations to senior leadership. Required Skills & Qualifications Core Technical Expertise • Strong Power Automate (required). • Advanced Python programming skills. • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks. Tools & Software • Project management experience using Jira and MS Project. • Data visualization using Power BI. Certifications (Preferred) • Power Automate RPA Developer Associate • Azure AI Engineer Associate / AWS ML Specialty • AI Governance Professional (AIGP) Industry Background • Extensive experience in healthcare and manufacturing, with strong understanding of regulatory environments. Professional Experience • 10+ years in AI and automation roles. • Proven experience managing small to mid-sized technical teams. • Strong track record of delivering automation projects end-to-end. Education • Master’s degree in Automation & AI, Computer Science, or equivalent. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Migrate 40+ automations to Power Automate within the Vantive ecosystem. • Build and manage a fully functional automation team. • Deliver 4+ cost-saving automation solutions with measurable ROI. • Meet project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
