About The Role
This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.
FDM is seeking a Release / DevOps Engineer located in Chicago to support a project in the Banking sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 Months but may be extended.
This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.
About You
Position Description
Background: Risk Horizontal technology team is responsible for developing regulatory risk solutions to the global fixed income, currencies, commodities and Equities business. The primary focus of the team is on building scalable risk reporting and generation tools for use across the business. End users include market risk management , Global Market Risk Analytics and other regulatory system uses. Risk Horizontal technology is heavily based in EMEA , looking to expand globally with highly skilled and motivated developers using agile methods to iterate quickly and work closely with users to deliver superior Risk calculation technology.
The role offers the opportunity to join on a team responsible for managing a large plant used by Risk Horizontal team for generating end of day and On-demand risk. Areas of focus include, application resiliency, capacity management, tooling, regulatory compliance and most importantly production stability. The team development environment is Quartz - the bankβs next generation trading and risk platform. Quartz consists of various pieces of shared infrastructure and code to drive consolidation across the trading business and break down business specific silos. Development takes place almost entirely in Python, with some C++ for high-performance components.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Working with a globally dispersed team of developers, DevOps and Release management team
β’ Provide DevOps expertise leadership, including design and proposals for effective management of infrastructure.
β’ Plan and execute failovers according to the requirements
β’ Collaborate with FICC Risk Technology as well as Quartz DevOps and TI on weekdays & Weekend activities
β’ Point of contact in the region for the team as it is getting expanded globally.

Qualifications:
β’ 2-3 Years experiencer in Programming in Python
β’ Understanding of handling larger plants and compartmentalize solutions if needed
β’ Skills:
β’ A reasonable experience in Software development and testing, deployment and support using agile development methodologies
β’ Functioning as part of a high-performance team, working on high-priority deliverables
β’ Solving real problems, and adding value to the business
β’ Communicating effectively with various stakeholders across technology and the business
β’ Grasp of system designs and Architecture

β’ Successful candidate would be able to gain first-hand experience of a large plant used for Horizontal end of day and OnDemand risk which is Business agnostic
β’ Successful candidate would be working in an intellectually challenging environment.
β’ Successful candidate would be in collaborative environment where people work together to master non-trivial challenges.
β’ Successful candidate can look forward to a range of challenging and stimulating projects are being run as part of the FICC Risk Quartz program.
