Test Automation with Python (contract)

Job Title: Test Automation Engineer (Python) Dallas or Westlake, Texas (hybrid) 1 week onsite, 1 week remote Required Skills • 8+ years of professional experience developing automated tests. • Proven experience in building and maintaining test automation frameworks for web applications. • Background in software engineering, with the ability to read and understand unit and integration test code. • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, test automation tooling and frameworks, feature toggle management, and test data/environment management. • Experience balancing test suite reliability, coverage, and developer productivity. • Hands-on experience with Playwright (Angular/JavaScript), Appium (Python or JavaScript), and/or WireMock is a plus. • Prior experience in teams that own their quality practices (no separate QA function). Key Responsibilities • Design and implement end-to-end quality processes for teams focused on full test automation. • Partner with the Quality Center of Excellence (CoE) to instill a strong, embedded quality mindset within engineering teams building Fidelity’s web and mobile applications. • Champion and teach CoE-defined best practices in automation technology, test pyramid health, release management, SDLC processes, and definition of done. • Own team-level outcomes and success metrics, including test coverage, automation levels, and change failure rates. • Collaborate with project leads and the CoE to develop and execute test strategies and scope. • Maintain and organize test suites to ensure optimal reliability, coverage, and efficiency.
