Role description
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled UAV Autonomy Software Engineer to design, develop, and validate advanced autonomy capabilities for mission-critical systems. This role focuses on building robust software components that enable intelligent decision-making, adaptive behaviors, and efficient mission execution. This is a remote, contract position for 40 hours/week with a flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and validate mission autonomy software components, including behavior trees and mission-level behaviors
Develop and optimize algorithms for route planning and path planning in dynamic environments
Architect and manage data pipelines to support autonomy and decision-making systems
Contribute to the design of scalable and modular mission autonomy software architectures
Write high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code in Python and C++
Perform software verification, validation, and testing to ensure reliability and performance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate autonomy solutions into larger systems
Required Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Strong programming experience in Python and C++
Experience with autonomy systems, robotics, or AI-driven software development
Solid understanding of path planning, route planning, and algorithm development
Familiarity with software architecture principles and best practices
Experience with testing, validation, and quality-focused software development
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with behavior trees or similar decision-making frameworks
Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or aerospace systems
Knowledge of real-time systems and distributed architectures
Familiarity with simulation environments and data management systems

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
