Role description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled UAV Autonomy Software Engineer to design, develop, and validate advanced autonomy capabilities for mission-critical systems. This role focuses on building robust software components that enable intelligent decision-making, adaptive behaviors, and efficient mission execution.
This is a remote, contract position for 40 hours/week with a flexible schedule. Contract positions do not provide health insurance or benefits.
Pay range: $70-$90/hour
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, implement, and validate mission autonomy software components, including behavior trees and mission-level behaviors
β’ Develop and optimize algorithms for route planning and path planning in dynamic environments
β’ Architect and manage data pipelines to support autonomy and decision-making systems
β’ Contribute to the design of scalable and modular mission autonomy software architectures
β’ Write high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code in Python and C++
β’ Perform software verification, validation, and testing to ensure reliability and performance
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate autonomy solutions into larger systems
Required Qualifications:
β’ Must be a U.S. citizen.
β’ Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
β’ Strong programming experience in Python and C++
β’ Experience with autonomy systems, robotics, or AI-driven software development
β’ Solid understanding of path planning, route planning, and algorithm development
β’ Familiarity with software architecture principles and best practices
β’ Experience with testing, validation, and quality-focused software development
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience with behavior trees or similar decision-making frameworks
β’ Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or aerospace systems
β’ Knowledge of real-time systems and distributed architectures
β’ Familiarity with simulation environments and data management systems
