Snowflake Data Engineer (DBT)
Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer with strong expertise in dbt (Data Build Tool) to design, develop, and optimize modern cloud-based data pipelines. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, ELT/ETL development, data modeling, and cloud data engineering.
Required Skills
• 8+ years of Data Engineering experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake.
• Strong expertise in dbt (Data Build Tool).
• Advanced SQL programming and query optimization.
• Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts (Star/Snowflake Schema).
• Experience with Python for data processing.
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Control-M or similar scheduling/orchestration tools.
• Experience working with semi-structured data (JSON, Parquet).
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services (S3 preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks.
• Knowledge of Informatica or IBM DataStage.
• Experience with Fivetran or other ingestion tools.
• Exposure to Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using Snowflake and dbt.
• Build reusable and optimized dbt models, macros, snapshots, and tests.
• Develop high-performance SQL transformations.
• Implement Snowflake best practices for performance and cost optimization.
• Build dimensional data models for reporting and analytics.
• Create and maintain data validation and quality checks.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production data pipelines.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and data analysts to understand requirements.
• Maintain documentation and support CI/CD deployment processes.
• Participate in code reviews and performance tuning activities.
Nice to Have
• Snowflake SnowPro Certification.
• Experience with DataOps.
• Experience with dbt Cloud.
• Banking or Financial Services domain experience
