Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist Lead Cloud FinOps to drive advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives focused on cloud cost optimization, forecasting, anomaly detection, and FinOps analytics. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data science, cloud cost management, and executive-level reporting across AWS and Azure environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop machine learning models for cloud cost forecasting, anomaly detection, and optimization recommendations.
• Build analytics solutions to process and analyze large-scale cloud billing and usage data.
• Create executive dashboards, reports, and actionable insights using Power BI.
• Develop data-driven solutions to improve cloud financial governance and operational efficiency.
• Implement and maintain data quality, governance, and standardization frameworks.
• Collaborate with FinOps, Cloud Engineering, and Business stakeholders to enhance cost visibility and accountability.
• Drive continuous improvement of FinOps analytics capabilities and reporting processes.
• Analyze cloud spending trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and resource optimization.
• Support chargeback/showback models and cost allocation strategies across business units.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 8+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years in Data Science, Analytics, FinOps, or Technical Analytics.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Machine Learning, statistical modeling, forecasting, and anomaly detection techniques.
• Experience working with cloud cost and billing data in AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Strong knowledge of FinOps concepts, including:
• Cost Allocation
• Chargeback / Showback
• Forecasting & Budgeting
• Reserved Instances
• Savings Plans
• Unit Economics
• Resource Tagging Strategies
• Experience with Power BI for dashboarding and executive reporting.
• Experience with:
