Zuora Data Engineer

Title:  Zuora Data Analyst Location: Remote Duration: 6+ month contract Compensation: $80.00 - 90.00/hr Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S. Zuora Data Analyst Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Finance Data Analyst to lead the automation and advancement of our Net Renewal Forecasting capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Billing (Zuora), and Data Engineering, and will play a critical role in transforming a manual, Excel-driven renewal process into a scalable, automated data product in dbt/Snowflake. The ideal candidate brings deep Zuora expertise, strong SQL/data modelling skills, and experience working closely with FP&A and Revenue Operations to define, validate, and operationalize financial metrics such as gross renewals, net renewals, churn, and billings.  This is a hands-on role focused on translating complex billing and subscription data into accurate, trusted, and actionable forecasting outputs. Key Responsibilities Renewals Forecasting & Finance Partnership • Partner with FP&A and Finance leadership to define and operationalize: • Net Renewals • Gross Renewals • Churn (logo and revenue) • Renewal timing and forecasting assumptions • Translate business logic into scalable data models and automated processes • Validate and reconcile forecast outputs against actuals and financial reporting Zuora Data Expertise (Critical) • Own analysis and modelling of Zuora billing and subscription data, including: • Rate Plans, Charges, Amendments, and Subscriptions • Future-dated renewals (Zuora Beta or equivalent) • Identify and resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, and edge cases in billing data • Define repeatable logic for renewal classification and attribution Data Modelling & Automation • Build and optimize SQL-based data models in Snowflake to support renewal forecasting • Collaborate with Analytics Engineering to productionize models using dbt • Replace manual workflows with automated, governed data pipelines • Ensure models are aligned with enterprise data standards and certified data products Data Quality & Reconciliation • Perform deep data validation and reconciliation across systems (Zuora, Snowflake, Excel outputs) • Identify root causes of discrepancies (e.g., billing timing, connection changes, credits) • Implement and monitor data quality checks and controls Insights & Communication • Deliver clear, finance-ready outputs and explanations of renewal performance and forecast drivers • Support executive reporting with accurate, trusted metrics • Communicate complex billing and data concepts in a business-friendly way Required Experience Must-Have (non-negotiable) • Strong hands-on experience with Zuora (billing + subscriptions) • Deep understanding of rate plans, amendments, renewals, and billing flows • Advanced SQL skills (complex transformations, performance tuning) • Experience working with Finance / FP&A teams on forecasting or revenue analytics • Proven ability to translate business logic into data model Preferred Experience • Experience with Snowflake and modern data stack (dbt, ELT pipelines) • Background in subscription SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, renewals, billings) • Experience automating manual Excel-based financial processes • Familiarity with systems like Salesforce, NetSuite, or Connect-type product data • Exposure to predictive modelling or forecasting techniques Key Success Indicators (First 30 - 60 Days) • Fully understand and document current manual renewal forecasting process • Deliver MVP automated dataset replacing manual reporting Profile We’re Looking For • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and finance-minded • Comfortable working in ambiguity and defining structure • Strong communicator who can bridge Finance, IT, and Data teams • Bias toward automation, scalability, and data quality Why This Role Matters This role is critical to enabling: • Accurate, forward-looking revenue visibility • Reduction of manual effort and reporting risk • A scalable foundation for renewal analytics and churn prediction Our benefits package includes: • Comprehensive medical benefits • Competitive pay • 401(k) Retirement plan • ...and much more!
