The Data Freelance Hub is an online community and resource base for data freelancers & contractors. We provide community, roles, events, content ideas, exclusive training, round-up content, and more.
As more businesses turn to data to drive organisational decision-making, the demand for data skills is at an all-time high. To plug this gap and meet the need, many companies turn to temporary workers to help them extract value and meaning from the data they have collected. These roles can range from a few hours to many years, depending on the project's complexity, and span nearly every industry. Many people fall into Data Freelancing as a stop-gap between jobs; others seek it as a career path.
It’s no secret that being a Data Freelancer can be incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally, financially and from a lifestyle perspective. What’s often less spoken about is the unique professional challenges that Data Freelancers face. From job insecurity, having to market your services, running your own business, delivering for clients and solving problems alone, without the support network and safety net that traditional employment would provide.
Despite these challenges, there's a notable absence of resources and communities specifically designed for Data Freelancers & Data Contractors. We’re often faced with going it alone, making it up as we go along, or seeking out friends of friends in similar situations who might be able to help. Yes, there are communities and platforms dedicated to those working in Data and communities that serve people working as a freelancer, but a distinct lack of targeted support for those straddling both. We wanted to change that.
Born from the trenches of data contracting, the Data Freelance Hub understands the intricacies and challenges of the data freelancing field - from getting started, landing your first client, landing the next five, to the admin of running your business, to finding support when you’re stuck with a data problem, or in need some advice when something goes wrong.
After contracting for household name clients like Baringa Partners, King.com, Riot Games, Outra, and Heylo Housing, to name a few, and facing many of the challenges detailed above, Ashley noticed a gap in the market for a targeted community and resource base that contains everything he wanted and needed in his four-year journey as a Data Freelancer - this is where the Data Freelance Hub was born.
The Data Freelance Hub is a place where Data Freelancers & Data Contractors can connect to share experiences and support each other. The Data Freelance Hub transcends a typical community – it's a powerhouse packed with everything you need to succeed; we have:
