Duration: 1-Year Contract (Potential to Extend)
Relocation Required (if not local to Irvine, CA)
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled 3D Data Scientist to join a growing Digital Endpoints team developing next-generation 3D imaging technologies for facial aesthetics.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with 3D facial, anatomical, or medical imaging data, including surface meshes, point clouds, photogrammetry, and 3D reconstruction. This role combines computer vision, machine learning, and quantitative imaging to develop and validate digital endpoints used in clinical research and product development.
Key Responsibilities
• Validate advanced 3D facial capture systems for accuracy, repeatability, and geometric precision.
• Develop machine learning models and quantitative methods for analyzing 3D facial imaging data.
• Work with meshes, point clouds, depth maps, and photogrammetry outputs to create clinically meaningful digital endpoints.
• Perform surface analysis, landmark validation, and quality control of 3D imaging data.
• Partner with data scientists, engineers, clinical researchers, and product teams to develop scalable 3D imaging solutions.
• Present technical findings and validation results to cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Vision, Medical Imaging, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience in machine learning, computer vision, or computational imaging.
• Strong Python programming skills with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Hands-on experience with 3D data including meshes, point clouds, depth maps, photogrammetry, or 3D reconstruction.
• Experience designing validation studies using statistical methods and quantitative performance metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with facial, craniofacial, anatomical, or medical imaging.
• Knowledge of facial landmarking, mesh analysis, shape analysis, or surface modeling.
• Experience with Open3D, trimesh, Blender, Autodesk Maya, RealityCapture, or Agisoft Metashape.
• Background in digital biomarkers, digital endpoints, or quantitative imaging in a regulated or clinical environment.
Why Apply?
This is an exciting opportunity to help build next-generation 3D digital endpoints at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, quantitative imaging, and facial aesthetics while working on cutting-edge technologies that support clinical innovation.
