Role description
We are seeking an experienced Access/SQL Database Developer to support and stabilize an existing Microsoft Access application used for daily accounting operations. This application is in active production and will continue to be used until a modernization initiative is completed. The developer will focus on troubleshooting issues, implementing bug fixes, ensuring smooth daily functionality, and creating structured documentation. This role requires strong collaboration with internal technical and business teamsβ€”without performing modernization work. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve defects in an existing Microsoft Access (VBA) front end and SQL Server back end. Ensure consistency and accuracy of daily workflows and accounting-related operational processes. Document business logic, data flows, queries, and application behavior to enable long-term internal support. Provide knowledge transfer to internal IT staff. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand issues and confirm successful resolutions. Work with the modernization team to maintain alignment while staying focused on supporting the existing legacy system. Required Skills & Experience 5+ years Microsoft Access development experience. 5+ years VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). 5+ years ActiveX Data Objects (ADO). 5+ years MS Access SQL and query design. 3+ years experience splitting Access databases into front-end/back-end architectures. 4+ years experience translating business logic from Access macros/modules into SQL. 4+ years writing SQL Server stored procedures and migrating tables from Access to SQL Server. 4+ years experience converting Access forms/reports to web-based applications. Experience stabilizing and reverse-engineering legacy systems. Ability to follow structured change control, documentation, and testing processes. Understanding of financial/accounting workflow systems (preferred). Excellent communication skills for documentation and knowledge transfer. Experience with QuickBase RAD Platform (highly desired). Candidate Requirements Must be local to Arkansas and able to work onsite from Day 1. Must pass required background checks. Must comply with e-Verify.
