Role description
Job Title: ActiveMQ on Azure Engineer Location: Remote (or specify if hybrid/onsite) Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time (adjust as applicable) Onsite full time the first 1-2 weeks. Following first 2 weeks, expectation is to be onsite 1-2 days a week after that. Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled ActiveMQ Engineer with strong hands-on experience deploying, managing, and optimizing ActiveMQ in Microsoft Azure environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in messaging infrastructure design, performance tuning, and automation, ensuring a highly available, scalable, and secure messaging system. Key Responsibilities • Evaluate and optimize the current ActiveMQ deployment hosted on Microsoft Azure. • Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems for messaging performance and reliability. • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of the messaging infrastructure. • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to automate deployments, configurations, and scaling. • Provide technical guidance on message routing, persistence, and performance optimization. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex messaging issues across production and staging environments. • Maintain thorough documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. Required Skills and Qualifications • Strong hands-on experience with ActiveMQ setup, administration, and tuning. • Solid understanding of Microsoft Azure services, deployment models, and networking. • Experience designing high-availability and fault-tolerant messaging systems. • Knowledge of message routing, load balancing, and persistence strategies. • Experience integrating ActiveMQ with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates, or Azure DevOps). • Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools for cloud-based environments. • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Strong written and verbal communication for documentation and cross-team collaboration. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with other messaging platforms (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus). • Familiarity with containerized ActiveMQ deployments (Docker, Kubernetes). • Certification in Azure Administrator, DevOps, or Solutions Architect is a plus.
