Role description
Agentic AI Engineer Hybrid (On-site 1–3 days per week, must be located in the DMV area) - Rest Remote Long Term Contract role We are seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to build AI models on top of our existing framework, which includes Web Services, Spring Boot, Java, and related technologies. This role will involve close collaboration with Data Scientists to develop and deploy AI agents designed to automate and optimize labor-intensive workflows. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Develop software to support communication between AI agents. β€’ Integrate models and agents with internal and external services via API calls. β€’ Support testing, debugging, and deployment in target environments. β€’ Set up monitoring systems and ensure reliable execution of agentic AI systems. β€’ Leverage a combination of open-source models, agentic tools, and proprietary commercial models. β€’ Secure agentic workflows and evaluate outcomes for accuracy, performance, and impact. β€’ Ensure all AI systems align with ethical standards, transparency, and fairness. β€’ Collaborate effectively with the teamβ€”sharing insights, seeking feedback, and contributing to a culture of innovation. β€’ Conduct research, build prototypes, evaluate results, and document findings as needed. Software Engineering & Leadership (25%) β€’ Lead a team in the design, development, and deployment of large-scale applications. β€’ Architect, code, and review complex software components across front-end and back-end systems. β€’ Ensure compliance with DevSecOps practices, secure coding standards, and quality assurance protocols. β€’ Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices. AI Agentic System Development (25%) β€’ Collaborate with data scientists to build AI agents for automation and optimization of workflows. β€’ Design and implement agent communication logic, integrate models with external/internal services via APIs. β€’ Ensure performance, ethical compliance, transparency, and fairness in AI systems. β€’ Monitor and secure agentic workflows, evaluate performance and accuracy. Stakeholder Collaboration & Technical Guidance (25%) β€’ Partner with product owners and stakeholders to define system scope and user requirements. β€’ Estimate technical costs and timelines, provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. β€’ Translate business and functional needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions. Architecture, Integration & Innovation (25%) β€’ Evaluate and implement new tools, frameworks, and emerging technologies (AI, ML, LLMs). β€’ Drive transformation initiatives involving cloud migration, microservices, and modern architectures. β€’ Extend and integrate open-source systems as needed to support innovation. β€’ Lead code quality efforts, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
