About the Role
Amber Labs is seeking a talented AI Engineer to join our growing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI solutions for high-impact UK Central Government projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative large language model (LLM) applications in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions with a focus on LLM-based applications
β’ Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and AI services using Python and AWS
β’ Fine-tune, evaluate, and optimise large language models for real-world use cases
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders
β’ Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and governance standards required for government projects
β’ Contribute to best practices, code quality, and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
β’ Minimum 3 yearsβ experience in AI/ML engineering, with hands-on experience in LLMs
β’ Strong programming skills in Python
β’ Proven experience working with AWS (e.g. S3, Lambda, SageMaker, ECS)
β’ Experience delivering solutions for UK Central Government projects
β’ Active SC (Security Check) Clearance (must be current and transferable)
β’ Solid understanding of machine learning lifecycle, model deployment, and MLOps practices
Desirable Skills
β’ Experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face
β’ Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and vector databases
β’ Knowledge of data governance and security standards within government environments
β’ Experience working in agile delivery teams
