Role description
AI Engineers & AI Architects (SC Cleared or Clearable) β Public Sector Programme | UK (hybrid with London Travel)
Weβre supporting a large-scale digital transformation programme within the UK public sector, focused on addressing fragmented, inconsistent, and highly manual data environments.
We are looking for both AI Engineers and AI Architects to play key roles in designing and delivering a modern, scalable data and AI ecosystem.
The Challenge
The current data landscape is:
β’ Spread across multiple systems and silos
β’ Inconsistent in structure and definition
β’ Heavily reliant on manual processes
This makes generating accurate insights slow and complex, even for straightforward reporting requirements.
AI Engineer Responsibilities
β’ Build and maintain data pipelines to ingest and unify data from multiple sources
β’ Clean, transform, and standardise datasets
β’ Develop AI/ML models to automate processes and improve data quality
β’ Enable scalable analytics and reporting capabilities
β’ Integrate systems via APIs and modern data platforms
AI Architect Responsibilities
β’ Define the target data & AI architecture (data platforms, integration patterns)
β’ Design how systems integrate into a unified data ecosystem
β’ Establish data governance, standards, and best practices
β’ Select and implement appropriate cloud and AI technologies
β’ Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant
What Weβre Looking For
For AI Engineers:
β’ Strong hands-on experience in AI/ML or Data Engineering
β’ Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and large datasets
β’ Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
For AI Architects:
β’ Proven experience designing data & AI architectures
β’ Strong understanding of enterprise data platforms and integrations
β’ Experience working in complex, multi-system environments
For both:
β’ Experience in regulated environments is beneficial
β’ SC Clearance (active) or eligibility to obtain it is essential
Location
β’ UK-based with travel to London
Contract Details
β’ Outside IR35
β’ Up to 12-month contract (long-term programme)
β’ Competitive day rates (dependent on experience)
