Position Summary
The AI Governance Analyst will play a key role in advancing and operationalizing AI governance practices across the enterprise. Embedded within the centralized AI Team, this role will work closely with data scientists, business stakeholders, technology partners, risk and control functions, and governance committees to ensure AI use cases are developed, reviewed, documented, and governed in alignment with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), internal IT General Controls (ITGCs), and enterprise software development lifecycle requirements.
This role is responsible for establishing, coordinating, and supporting governance processes that enable effective oversight of AI initiatives from intake through deployment and ongoing monitoring. The AI Governance Analyst will help ensure use cases are represented with complete and accurate documentation, required governance activities are completed, and decision-makers receive clear, actionable materials to support reviews and approvals.
This is a highly collaborative role suited for someone who is detail-oriented, process-minded, and effective at translating technical AI work into structured governance artifacts and risk-informed documentation.
Key Responsibilities
AI Governance Process Support
• Help establish, maintain, and continuously improve AI governance processes, standards, and operating procedures for the centralized AI Team.
• Support implementation of governance practices aligned to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, including activities related to governance, mapping, measuring, and managing AI risks.
• Assist in operationalizing internal AI governance requirements across the AI development lifecycle.
• Track required governance checkpoints, approvals, and documentation artifacts for AI and advanced analytics use cases.
Documentation and Governance Artifacts
• Coordinate and prepare governance documentation for AI use cases to ensure submissions to governing bodies are complete, accurate, and timely.
• Develop, maintain, and improve templates, checklists, control evidence, and supporting materials used in AI governance reviews.
• Ensure business context, model purpose, data inputs, risk considerations, controls, testing evidence, monitoring plans, and approval records are documented appropriately.
• Review documentation packages for completeness and follow up with stakeholders to close gaps before formal governance review.
Cross-Functional Partnership
• Partner with business stakeholders, data scientists, and technology teams to ensure required AI governance and software development lifecycle activities have occurred and are documented.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams and governance, risk, compliance, and control stakeholders.
• Support teams in understanding documentation expectations, governance requirements, and control obligations related to AI initiatives.
• Facilitate coordination across use case owners and contributors to keep governance deliverables on track.
SDLC, Controls, and Compliance Coordination
• Help ensure AI use cases adhere to applicable software development lifecycle (SDLC) requirements, internal control expectations, and technology governance standards.
• Support evidence collection and process execution related to internal ITGCs and other enterprise control requirements impacting AI development and deployment.
• Identify missing governance steps, documentation gaps, or control exceptions and escalate as appropriate.
• Maintain auditable records of governance activities, required approvals, and control evidence.
Governance Committee and Stakeholder Enablement
• Prepare materials, summaries, and supporting content for governance forums, review boards, and decision-making bodies.
• Translate technical AI use case details into clear governance-ready content for non-technical or cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support recurring reporting on AI governance activities, use case status, documentation completeness, and control adherence.
• Contribute to the development of training, guidance, and communications that improve awareness and adoption of AI governance practices.
Continuous Improvement
• Monitor governance process effectiveness and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, consistency, traceability, and risk coverage.
• Support the creation of metrics and reporting to assess AI governance maturity and operational compliance.
• Stay informed on emerging AI governance practices, regulatory expectations, and evolving risk management frameworks relevant to enterprise AI.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, Risk Management, or a related field
Required Experience
• Experience supporting governance, risk, compliance, controls, audit, technology process, or program coordination activities
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a technology, analytics, or data-focused environment
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and documentation practices
• Understanding of risk management, controls, and documentation standards in enterprise environments
Required Skills
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, structured, and decision-ready documentation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or data science initiatives in a governance, program, risk, or operational capacity
• Familiarity with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework
• Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIPG) Certification
• Experience with IT General Controls (ITGCs), technology risk, internal audit, or compliance programs
• Experience preparing materials for governance committees, review boards, or risk/control forums
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of model documentation, validation inputs, change management, and monitoring considerations in AI/ML environments
• Experience in a regulated, highly controlled, or enterprise-scale operating environment
