Primary Talent Partners has an open 12 month W2 contract with a large utilities client of ours that is fully remote!
Pay Range:Β $80.00 to $89.00 per hour (No PTO, benefits, etc but self funded ACA-compliant healthcare plan available to opt-in to)
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong experience in meta-heuristic algorithms, Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP), and Python-based optimization to support advanced grid investment planning at scale. This role will focus on designing and prototyping adaptive optimization models that handle complex, non-linear, and combinatorial planning challenges with real-world constraints.
As an integral part of the AI delivery team, you will help develop and deploy next-generation optimization tools using techniques such as Genetic Algorithms, Harmony Search, and MILP, tailored for evolving business and regulatory landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design and implement meta-heuristic and MILP-based optimization models in Python for grid investment planning.
β’ Prototype and evaluate algorithms like Genetic Algorithms (GA), Harmony Search, and MILP to solve large-scale, non-linear, constrained optimization problems.
β’ Incorporate real-world constraints such as capacity thresholds, investment budgets, and evolving business priorities into optimization logic.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand investment criteria, shifting priorities, and regulatory mandates.
β’ Ensure models are adaptable and scalable, enabling flexibility for new constraints without re-architecting core logic.
β’ Conduct exploratory data analysis and preprocessing to prepare model inputs.
β’ Integrate models with analytics ecosystems (e.g., PowerBI/Tableau, Excel) to streamline result interpretation.
β’ Facilitate hands-on workshops with business users, covering:
β’ Model configuration and setup
β’ Input data preparation
β’ Interpretation of optimization results
β’ Interpret and articulate optimization model outputs to non-technical stakeholders, translating complex results into actionable business insights.
