AI Strategist (Hybrid Role, 2 Days/week in Columbia, SC)

SYSTEMTEC is seeking an AI Strategist a hybrid opportunity in Columbia, SC. (2 days a week on-site). Candidate will shape and execute an enterprise artificial intelligence strategy that improves operational performance, enhances public-facing services, and promotes responsible technology adoption. This role partners closely with executive leadership and technology teams to identify high-value use cases, establish governance, and drive measurable outcomes. Required Qualifications of the AI Strategist: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or other related field along with applicable experience managing programs or initiatives. Hands-on experience with AI technologies, machine learning concepts, and data governance practices. Preferred: 5 years of hands-on experience with expanding scope in artificial intelligence, analytics, or information technology Prior experience working in a government or public sector environment. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with executive leadership. Responsibilities of the AI Strategist: Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap and prioritized portfolio of AI initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Establish and enforce responsible AI standards, including privacy, fairness, transparency, and regulatory compliance. Partner with business and technical teams to identify opportunities, define requirements, and drive adoption of AI solutions. Support vendor evaluations, platform alignment, and adherence to cybersecurity and data governance policies. Lead change management, training, and communication efforts to build AI literacy and report on performance metrics.
