Job#: 3035373 Job Description: AI Tech Lead Type: Contract to hire Location: United States Schedule: Remote for outside of Lisle, IL or Columbia, MD (4 days/week in Columbia, MD or Lisle, IL) Role Overview This position is for a hands-on technical leader responsible for translating AI architecture into detailed design and successful delivery. The AI Tech Lead will lead the implementation of AI-driven experiences for the website, including conversational AI and intelligent widgets, using Drupal and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). This role owns the execution, driving technical design, delivery quality, deployment readiness, and cross-functional alignment with product and business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities • Own the hands-on delivery of AI solutions by translating architectural direction into detailed technical design and implementation plans. • Design and implement AI-driven experiences for the marketing website, including conversational interfaces, chatbots, and personalized user journeys. • Lead the integration of AI capabilities into CMS-driven applications, with a focus on Drupal-based web experiences. • Build and deploy cloud-based AI services on Google Cloud Platform, and evaluate equivalent patterns for candidates transitioning from AWS where appropriate. • Partner with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure business goals are met. • Drive end-to-end execution, including technical breakdowns, effort estimation, sprint planning, risk management, and production support. • Establish engineering best practices for scalability, performance, security, and responsible AI in customer-facing digital experiences. • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership through design and code reviews to improve quality and team velocity. • Define and monitor success metrics such as engagement, conversion, and user experience quality. • Support an accelerated delivery timeline by maintaining strong ownership and clear communication across technical and business teams. Required Qualifications • Proven experience leading the implementation of AI solutions in web, digital, or marketing technology environments. • Experience embedding AI capabilities into CMS-driven applications, ideally Drupal or comparable enterprise content platforms. • Hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) for AI solution development; AWS experience is acceptable if the candidate can transition quickly to Google Cloud Platform. • Experience designing and delivering conversational AI, chatbots, intelligent widgets, or other AI-driven user experiences. • Experience with at least one real-world GenAI / Agent-based AI project deployed to production. • Understanding of AI agents, with hands-on experience using at least one agent framework (e.g., LangGraph, ADK). • Strong software engineering and integration skills, including APIs, cloud services, system design, and deployment practices. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Demonstrated ability to lead delivery in fast-paced environments and manage ambiguity under compressed timelines.
