Alation Data Governance Consultant

Job Type: Contract Job Category: IT Job Description Role: Alation Data Governance Consultant Location: Remote Job Description: Data governance who is expert in Alation implementation The consultant will work closely with the Director of Data Governance to operationalize our strategy, ensuring critical business metrics are well-defined, accessible, and aligned with governance standards. The role will also support data quality initiatives and manage sensitive PII data in compliance with policy. Key Responsibilities: Partner with the Director of Data Governance to deliver practical Alation implementation plans. Lead hands-on configuration, server administration, and maintenance of Alation. Build and maintain an enterprise metrics catalog within Alation. Define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and workflows. Support data discovery, lineage, and stewardship processes. Ensure appropriate cataloging and governance of PII data. Support data quality initiatives, including defining rules and facilitating resolution. Maintain high-quality, complete metadata in the catalog. Serve as the subject matter expert on Alation best practices. Required Qualifications: 5+ years in data governance, metadata management, or data management roles. Demonstrated, hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and administering Alation at scale. Proven experience building and maintaining a metrics catalog. Knowledge of PII data governance and data quality management. Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK).
